Why Vegan?

I try to be the best person I can be in every possible way. I try and meditate often and learn about many other religions without first making any judgements. I try and act the same way towards all people.
For my diet, I find that to be the best I can, I need to be vegan to the best of my ability. Of course, I know that I am in no way perfect, and I do eat a little dairy from time to time. Call it mistakes or exceptions, I don't care, but this is my vegan philosophy:
  •  I will no longer buy animal related products. Vegetarianism and veganism are superbly better for the environment than eating meat, even if the animals are free range! It is not hard for me to pick soy milk or soy cheese over dairy, and it is not hard for me to only buy products without milk, so why wouldn't I?
  • If a family member or friend buys me or prepares me a meal that is not vegan, I will eat it. Only because it doesn't always make sense for me to ask people to go out of their way for me. I still don't eat meat though, mind you. But that's because it does not appeal to me anymore.
  • I do eat honey. Because I'm not that kind of vegan I guess, and because it contributes to saving the bee population!
  • I went to Peru. I ate meat. Only because I had to. Meat substitutes aren't big everywhere yet, including where I was in Peru! I have no regrets and neither should anyone else :)
  • I eat well. I can cook for myself and eat simply great! Cooking vegan is an adventure every meal! I love the challenge!
